Cube action
This position caused an interesting discussion. I was tempted to to play 21/15, 21/18. It looks nice to block White's checkers on the mid-point. It also seems to avoid being forced to destroy our board, if too many checkers remain caught behind White's prime. We may even win this forward and not in a back game!
The argument, that convinced me to play 18/9 was, that we are just too far behind! Chances of winning forward are very slim, because White has a huge lead in the race, a nice prime and flexible position. Our board doesnot look too impressive either , which means that even hitting one of the checkers on White's mid-point will not be all that great.
The best hope here is to play a 2-4 back game and hope for the best. The front checkers will povide proper timing for some time and eventually one of the back checkers will hopefully escape. 18/9 is the only move - everything else is a big blunder!
