Doctor Who: The Fourth Doctor (Tom Baker)
Leela and the Doctor discover a strange seed. I really need to write a script or something...
Finally, a frock coat I'm happy with! Although I'll still probably tweak it a little more each time I make it, to get it "just right." Previous attempts were too baggy. (To see what I mean, check out my current versions for the 8th Doctor and the 2nd Doctor, both of which now are scheduled for upgrades.) I wanted a more fitted and tailored look than I could find in any of the doll patterns I could find, so I wound up using a modified version of an actual Victorian frock coat pattern.
I finally solved the problem I've had with puffy lapels and collars by topstitching those areas. As always, I lined the coat. Black ribbon trims the cuffs and pocket flaps. The collar is gray on the bottom, with a contrasting black top.
I based this on the frock coat worn by the Fourth Doctor (Tom Baker) in "The City of Death." The coat looks gray in some pictures and brownish gray in others - I could only find gray fabric, so that made the decision for me. I also bought some dark brown fabric so I eventually can make a coat like the one the 4th Doctor wears in "Robots of Death."
If there is any interest, I'll try to scale this pattern down to fit 9" (Mego/Denys Fisher) scale dolls and make coats for them as well.
I haven't had any luck with my attempts to make a scarf for the Fourth Doctor, but if you're interested, you can find details on what I tried here. How to Make the Fourth Doctor's Scarf
