Cecil
grew up in Brownwood, Texas where he performed with the Haze, a
cover rock band, for several years. While living there, he formed
a friendship with Austin musician Van Wilks from whom he learned
many aspects of the guitar.
After attending college in San Marcos, Cecil moved to Abilene to
further his education. While in Abilene, he played with various
country, rock and jazz bands throughout the North Texas/New
Mexico/Oklahoma area. Upon completing his education, he "got
back here as soon as I could". He instantly fell in
love with the music scene that was flourishing in Austin during
the early '70s. He has since called Austin home and has played in
various venues in Austin and the surrounding area.
While Cecil was performing with different rock bands over the
years, he also had intrests in the acoustic guitar. He began
playing in acoustic groups where he could develope his finger-picking
style on the acoustic guitar and sharpen his vocal abilities.
Cecil has played with the cover rock band SearchParty for the
past 15 years, but has always held a special place in his heart
for acoustic groups with unique vocal harmonies.
Cecil is a great addition to 3GR. He has brought with him a great
personality, super vocals, and musical abilities. Not to mention
his superb technical knowlege and experience. Cecil has his own
mastering studio where he does final mastering of recordings and
works on his own songwriting / recording projects.
