Texas School Performance Review
Management and Performance Review
Scope :
Conduct a management
and performance audit of four Texas school districts, provide regular
project status reports, and prepare a report identifying the district’s
exemplary programs as well as suggest concrete ways to improve district
business and instructional operations. The reviews will cover all areas
of the district, including: district organization and management;
community involvement; asset and risk management; personnel; food services; purchasing; finance;
transportation; facilities; safety and security; and technology.

in the most effective and cost efficient manner. |

Determine whether
the district possesses sufficient and correct financial/information
systems. |

opportunities to save money or increase
revenues to maximize financial resources available for improvements. |

and develop strategies to streamline and improve the efficiency and
effectiveness of operations. |

Highlight exemplary programs that can be
replicated. |

the school board, community members, staff, students and parents and

comparative data, charted and analyzed budget and actual expense data,
and applied standard business controls and staffing allocation
formulas. |

Prepared report
proposing solutions, developed recommendations with examples and
implementation plans, calculated and documented fiscal impacts and
prepared work papers. |

Results :
 |
If fully
implemented, the review team’s 114
recommendations could result in net savings of more than
$3,901,533 over the next five years

During its review,
the team developed 37 recommendations
to improve operations and save taxpayers more than
$626,437 by 2006-07 for the Lasara

The review team identified
45 process and cost-saving recommendations
for improvement in the Center Point Independent School District of
$444,605.
