Culture
is what links us to the generations before us,
to the great artists, song writers, poets, and dancers. It
molds us into a social mass, confiding each other in tradition,
folklore, food and celebration. In mid April, people from around the world celebrate the
Bengali New Year and devote a complete day to all that is festive
and glorious, beaming with the honor of their rich heritage. It is a day where the mango trees are decorated, the puppet shows
come alive, and people share laughter over pantha bhat(rice) and
ilish mach (fish). We invite you to explore the historical
significance of this cultural anchor and drop
by as we celebrate our heritage in Austin, Texas.
