Umbrella Collage was done during the period April 14-16, 2000. From Rick's journal:

April 16, 2000:

"Worked on collage. Canvas full. Chuck asked me, "What's the matter? Why are you so depressed? I said, "because my art was failing." I was having to do things twice and I hate that. More than anything, my art needs to just happen."
