The 17th painting for Rick to exhibit at Art Encounter, Lazy Day entered the gallery in the spring of 1991. The technique of "sculpting" with spackling on canvas was unique to the gallery at the time.

Happy Day was completed in 1991. Some of the shapes and objects in this painting are based on Pablo Picasso's 1931 piece Nature morte sur un guéridon. Initially, Happy Day was displayed in our home. In 1992, the painting was exhibited at Art Encounter and was purchased by a gallery client.
