Balls, Acrylic & plaster on canvas, 24"W x 36"H

Art Encounter was very good to Rick in 1992. This acrylic and spackling piece is the only painting from 1992 not previously sold by the gallery. Seven other pieces completed in 1992, plus four paintings from 1991, were sold by Art Encounter during 1992.

Balls was the full-cover illustration for the State Bar of Texas' magazine Texas Bar Journal (above right). The October, 1998 issue focused on HIV/AIDS and the law.

Paintings completed and sold to gallery clients during 1992 include the following pieces which reflect a cubist style. The paintings depicting "fractured" faces are similar in style to the French artist Jean Metzinger's 1913 painting Woman with Hat.
