Karankawas Indians
Food
The Tribe makes ashes out of cornnut from the fire place. They also made Canoes to get fish. Oyster were another food enjoyed by the Karankawas. They also ate fish, bears, nuts, deer, and "the heart of fat animal".
Shelter
The Karankawas built fires for cooking and heating in the center of the hut. Whenever it was possible, they build their huts near a stream. Shelters were made out of poles and skin. The shelter would house seven or eight people.

Music
Only the men danced; the woman at some distance away from the fire. The Karankawas cooked the foods they found in clay pots which were placed on live coals of the fire they have built. There was little decoration on these pots. Many of the stool are made out of stone. They also made and used baskets for many things.
Children
The Karankawas are very fond of their children. They would give the children two names, one for the outsider, and one that have magical meanings. They nurse until they were twelve years old. Children learning chores at a very young age. When boy went into manhood, they were tattooed.
