- What's Happening: Happy Halloween!
BOO!!
Did I scare anyone???
Well, I hope everyone has a Happy Halloween. Don't eat too
much candy...
As for me, they are actually having a Halloween party here
tonight at the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR)
building. There is going to be a 5K fun run at 6pm and you
can run in costume. Then there will be a party and costume
contest after that. I think that I've got the girls that I
deployed with convinced to go. We are going to wear our
brown T-shirts and different colored shorts. Want to know
what that costume is?That's what the Navy personnel here
wear when they are not in their Desert uniforms. They do
not have to wear their "official" PT uniform. It's kind of
an inside joke, but we really are thinking about doing it.
I think we've been here long enough now that it doesn't take
much to amuse us!!! We pretty much amuse ourselves!
Anyways, we are all starting to get excited about leaving
soon. We have our Customs inspection on our connexes (big
trailers that we are packing stuff in to send home on a
ship) on Wednesday. We have to make sure everything is
clean and that there is no "contraband" in any of our
stuff. The K9 unit from the Air Force will come over so the
dogs can sniff for drugs and weapons. Then we can pack
everything up in our duffle bags, lock 'em and send
everything to the port in Kuwait to get put on a ship for
Texas. They should get back to Texas sometime in late
January or early February.
Let's see, what else is going on? Well, it finally has
gotten cooler here in the mornings and evenings. We even
had a few drops of rain once. But, now that the clouds have
gotten here, it is starting to get humid. It's still pretty
warm during the day. I'm not looking forward to rainy
season. I hope we don't get caught in it too much before we
leave.
Oh, mail. If anyone was planning on packing a box to send
over, please don't. Our mail cutoff is Halloween, so if you
haven't already mailed it, just keep it there. By the time
it gets here, we will probably be on our way to Kuwait.
Well, that's about it for now. I hope everyone enjoys
Halloween. Debbie, I think your costume idea for work is
hilarious!
Take Care everyone and I'll be seeing you soon -
Lotta
