  • What's Happening:

    Hello everyone,

Well, we finally did it...The Texas Longhorns beat Oklahoma University for the first time this century!  Yup that's right, the last time we beat them was in 1999.  Hopefully this trend continues!!

Now for those of you who don't follow sports, college football or the Texas Longhorns, just suffer through this first part!  We actually got to watch the game live here last night.  I had a small party in my room with Pizza, wings, chips & salsa and near-beer (non-alcoholic).  There were about 7 of us in there at the start, but by the time the game ended, there were only three of us.  A few pictures are attached.

Now, away from football.  Things here have been pretty much the same.  People are starting to get excited about going home soon.  The post office here has been really busy.  People are mailing stuff home left and right, me included!

It has really been interesting being here.  There are lots of other nations with troops here.  So far I have seen troops from Australia, Denmark, England, Iraq, Italy, Japan, Poland and Romania, here on Tallil.  It's getting easier for me to distinguish them by their uniforms.  It was pretty hard at first since all these desert uniforms look pretty much the same.  I mean, there's only so much you can do with shades of brown!

I finally have my own work computer.  This means I will have more access to email now, and hopefully be able to answer each of your emails.

YIPPEE!!!  Mail just came in and I got a box!!  Amanda, thanks for the Mary Kay stuff and for the callous scraper.  I can't wait to get back to my room to try it!!  I also plan on eating a box of the hot tamales tonight as I watch the Patriot game.  They are televising the NE Patriots game on AFN so of course Baby Brady and I will be watching!

Well, have to sign off for now.  Much love to all and looking forward to seeing you soon - Lotta
