  • What's Happening:

    Hello all,

Well, I am missing Austin a little more than usual today.  I am really missing Mexican food (the fajitas at Pappasito's, not to mention the Margarita's) and Amy's ice cream.  I guess it's not unusual to crave things you can't have!  I guess I should mention that I just finished aerobics, so I am hungry!

We (my roommate and I) are going to try to get cable run to our trailer.  This will mean we can get a TV and get the Armed Forces Network (AFN).  They actually have more than one AFN channel now (believe it or not Dad!).  I remember when we lived in Germany, and when I was stationed in Korea, there was only one channel.  Now they have AFN sports (which, by the way was showing the Patriot game Sunday night), AFN News, AFN Classics (old movies) and the regular AFN station that shows selected TV shows from the states.  We also get FOX news and I think we get MSNBC as well.  I'm not sure if we will pick up any local Iraqi stations, but hopefully we'll find out!

Work here is still slow for the time being.  Our computers haven't arrived yet from Texas, so it's kind of difficult to get most of what I need to do done.  That just means I'll be busy when my computer finally gets here!

I still haven't seen a camel spider yet, but I have been told that they do exist.  I have people on the lookout for one for me so that I can send my dear doubting sister a photo.  Not really any bugs around here to speak of (at least I haven't seen any so far).  Even the flies aren't bad here.  I guess being this far South has some benefits.

I haven't left the base so far and it doesn't seem like I will anytime in the near future, so that should ease quite a few minds!

Well,  I'll sign off for now.  Thanks for all your emails, it brings a smile to my face reading them and hearing about everything going on back home.

Take Care everyone and I'll email again soon -

    Lotta
