- What's Happening:
Hello all,
Well, today I have my first day off. It is Sunday here, so
I slept in this morning. After a leisurely shower, I
decided it was time to upack the rest of my duffel bags and
clean up my side of the trailer I share.
Now, it is afternoon here and I am over at the Morale,
Welfare and Recreation (MWR) center. Once I'm finished with
this email, I will sign up for the phones to call my Dad.
Things over here are going well, pretty boring actually (I'm
sure some of you will be glad to hear that). There has not
been a mortar attack on Tellil in over two years. Not much
action here, so it's pretty safe on base. Still hot, but it
seems to be a little cooler in the mornings now. Not
looking forward to the rainy season, I've been told the dirt
here turns to clay that sticks to everything.
Last Monday I went on a tour to see the Ziggeraut (sp?). It
is a temple built to worship the moon over 4000 years ago.
Google it for more info. Also, in the same location is the
House of Abraham, one of the first prophets. There are a
lot of archeological ruins there as well. A King's palace,
royal tombs and other temples and ruins. It was pretty
amazing. I sent a CD with photos to Amanda so when she
receives it, she will post some of the photos to the website
for all to see.
OK - now for some things I would like - the goodie list!
Actually, there's not much. I would like some kind of UT
poster. I am stuck working with some Aggie fans, and I'm
going crazy without any UT poster to hang. Some hot salsa
would be nice as well. The only salsa they have here at the
PX is mild Pace. It may as well be ketchup! That's really
it, I told you there wasn't much!
I hope everyone is doing well back in the good ole USA.
I'll email again sometime during the week -
Love & Miss y'all - Lotta
