The person at the root of this tree, Henry Washington Owen, is my grandfather. He was a farmer in eastern Tennessee, in Weakley and Henry Counties. He and my grandmother, Mattie Belle Vaughn, had 9 children of which my father, James Fate Owen, is the middle. All of them are still living and, with the exception of my father, all live in Tennessee, seven of them within 5-6 miles of the old home place, outside of Paris, TN. My father and mother, Geneva Bass Owen, moved to Michigan in the post-war industrial boom.
As you can see from my ancestor tree, all of my ancestors, currently documented, lived in the mid-south region of Tennessee, Virginia and North Carolina. My ultimate goal is to trace my family lineage back to the old world. It is likely that the Owen name came from Wales, however there is the possibility that they had already migrated from the name's homeland to other parts of Great Britain.
The most predominant physical trait among my family is prominent facial
features. Particularly, a medium-large nose and large ears, with dangling
ear lobes. Not all members exhibit these traits, but there is enough of
them that is definately a family trait.
