The person at the root of this tree, Thirmutis Adelle Maddox, is my grandmother. She taught school in Tennessee until 1927 when my mother was born. She raised the children, my mother and her brother, and did not work outside of the home until the 1940's. She then worked in school lunch rooms for a couple of years in Tennessee and then moved to Michigan still working in schools. About 2 years after coming to Lansing, MI she began working at Lieberman's store in downtown Lansing. She did luggage and leather sewing and repair until retirement in the mid-1960's.
We lived with her when I was born and a few years after we moved into our own home, she came to live with us.
