Background Information-
A review of Ann Connell's records of 400 white-tailed deer fawns triaged for admission over 11 years estimated that 40 percent of fawns admitted for rehabilitation were good candidates for return to the areas where they were found to be reunited with their mothers. Since 1983, Mrs. Connell has successfully reunited 124 fawns with their mothers. The triage guide was developed to improve the initial screening of young fawns (up to 2 weeks of age).
