Mom and dad bought the biggest cage they could find when the brought me home. They made sure the bars were not too far apart so I would not get my head stuck between them. My cage has three little doors on the sides of the cage were my food and water bowls go. There is also another door near the top of the cage where a nest box could be attached if I wanted to get married. Mom and dad made a little mistake when they bought my cage. It has a domed top which is real nice since it makes the cage bigger. Only problem is they can't but a playstand or perch on the top like they could if they had a flat topped cage. The cage has a metal skirt which goes all around the outside near the bottom to catch poop. This helps keep my cage area clean because when I am on top of my cage I lean out over the edge to go to the bathroom. The cage came with a nice perch which runs from side to side near the top of my cage. The perch is ok but I like to perch on the spiral thing which hangs from the top. I have one of those Cosy tents hanging from the top for me to hide in when I want to be alone. Of course I have lots of toys all over the place for me to play with while mom and dad are gone.

When mom and dad first got me as a baby they put me in my new big cage downstairs in the family room and covered the cage with a blanket. It was hard for me to fall asleep because everyone was watching TV down there. One night when it was cold and there was a bad thunderstorm they started bringing me upstairs into their room to sleep. They first setup my travel cage but later bought another fairly large cage for me to sleep in. They keep a food and water bowl in case I am hungry in the morning before they wakeup. There is a big blanket covering the top and one side of the cage towards the window so I can get my beauty sleep in the morning. I like to sleep on top of my cage in the cosy tent which is hanging from the playtop. I have lots of toys to keep my busy in the morning while mom and dad are sleeping

I am real good and don't wake mom and dad up in the morning except once around 7:30 to go to the bathroom (I have never pottied my upstairs cage). After that I will let mom and dad sleep to noon if they want to! Sometimes while I am asleep mom and dad pull the blanket all the way over the cage for awhile so they can be alone. Mom and dad like to stay up late but by around 10 p.m. I let everyone know I am getting sleepy. I point myself towards the stairs and stretch my wings out in a begging motion. Sometimes I will walk back and forth on the sofa and give everyone a squawk to be sure they know. If mom and dad still hasn't gotten the picture I will just walk up the stairs myself and tuck myself in. I have one of those cuddly tents to sleep in but sometimes I like to sleep outside of it. Here is a picture taken with a night vision camera of me sleeping in the dark (you can see the white of my face and black beak between my tent on the left and the blanket on the right):

My cage gets a good cleaning whenever it gets dirty. In Texas the weather is very mild so mom and dad can take my cages outside for a real good cleaning. They never use any harmful chemical, they use dish soap on a scrubbing brush to get it clean. Sometimes I help and get a shower in the process:

Mom and dad thought that I looked too dark in the cliffordlive video. My cage is next to two windows, but they don't face the sun. They installed a decorative swag lamp which hangs about 18 inches above my cage. It is fairly close but I can't reach it and eat the cord. The lamp has a full spectrum compact fluorescent bulb which simulates natural sunlight. Durotest makes the Vita-lite series of bulbs which come in a Spriralux compact fluorescent model. Mom and dad don't believe in advertising but they looked all over on the net and this company Naturallighting.com had the best page they saw describing all the different models. They say the natural light helps promote vitamin D production and leaving it on for 12 hours a day helps with setting up a natural photoperiod. I just love they way my colors show up in the white light.
