Hello All,

Welcome to my Hall site. This site serves two main purposes, one is for me to catalog my Hall pieces for posterity and the other is to share it with the world. I am by no means an expert, I just like it and have quite a bit. However, I have a pretty good working knowledge about it and would love to know more. So lets get started!

NEWS

July 14- I hate to say, but I'm super busy right now, so the QTVR movies will have to wait. Check back soon and I'll get 'em up!

July 7- Thanks to a fellow Hall collector I now have a new section, entitled "Contributed." This is where I will post pictures and tidbits that you readers send me. The debut installment has a couple of great pics!

July3- Well Alright! My color camera has arrived, expect some QTVR objects next week! Be sure to get Quicktime 3 and have it installed, it's pretty cool, I promise.

June 30- New Section! Check out "Whatizit?" and see if you can help a fellow Hallite identify a piece. If you want one of your pieces featured on "Whatizit?" just let me know.

June 28- Wow, thanks all to over 200 hits in the first week. The Hall contigency is growing! Look for a new section in a few days called "Whatizit?" where I will post pictures and information about people wanting help identifying Hall pieces. The search for knowledge continues!

June 24- Thanks to all those who sent me notes this week, my "new" version of the site has reached over 100 hits in it's first 4 days up! A big thanks to Marty for the link! I'm awaiting a new video camera and when I get it, I'll put up some QuickTime VR's of some of my pieces. If you aren't familiar with QuickTime VR, you should be, it's very cool. You need to make sure you have QuickTime installed on your computer, either PC or Mac. I highly recommend QuickTime 3, it's available on the web at Apple's QuickTime site. I should have some VR's up by the end of July, so check back!

If any of you have pictures of your Hall stuff you want me to post, just drop me a line.

I've spent the last couple of years collecting various Hall China pieces, mainly because I was getting dragged to antique stores and figured I mights as well look for something to collect since I was there. The first piece I bought was a small green custard that cost 2 bucks. That's my kind of collecting, inexpensive. To be honest I kind of fell in love with the simplicity, the clean lines and the apparent unbreakability of Hall China (yes I've since learned that it DOES break as I lost an entire shelf to gravity).

I must say that I do collect only a certain kind of Hall China, first it MUST have the round Hall backstamp. My only exception is the fridge stuff with it's manufacturer backstamp. The round stamp stuff was made up until the early 70's or so, the later stuff and the reissues have a rectangular (ugly) backstamp. The second thing I look for is that it must be a solid color, no frilly patterns. I don't really dislike the patterned stuff, it's just not my thing. There is lots of Hall stuff out there, I had to focus on the stuff that I like the most. I love the wide variety of colors and the endless shapes. I'm always running across things I've never seen before, the thrill of the hunt!

On the following pages I've put pictures of most of my pieces. I find it fun just to look at the variety, the other Hall websites are great and here's my entry. I've had a Hall page up in this spot for about 2 years but it was HORRIBLY maintained, I hope to do better this round.

One of my favorite things about collecting Hall is that you really can USE this stuff. We've got it everywhere, even the dog is in on the act!

Of course there is always the question, where do you keep all that stuff? I can't use it all, and to be honest I just want to show some of it off, as you can see my presentation could use a little work.

Hall made some great stuff, and collecting it can really be fun. Most of it is pretty inexpensive and there seems to be lots of it. From what I can tell, different parts of the country tend to have different pieces. Down here in Texas we see stuff that you may not see on the east coast. Anyway, there seems to be lots to keep a collector going for quite awhile. I really don't spend that much time looking for it, but every once and a while I'll see a piece I don't have and home it comes.

I've divided the following pages into different sections.

Ashtrays
Very cool and also very hard to find.
Printed Hall Pieces
Hall with printing of some kind on it, usually an advertisement.
Refrigeratorware
This stuff was given away with new refrigerators, super cool.
Green Stuff
The ultimate utilitarianware, made for restaurants and hospitals.
Cups and Mugs
Drinkable Hall! Best served in pairs.
Teapots and Pitchers
Big and sometimes expensive, these are gorgeous.
Odds and Ends
Pieces that just defy catagorization.

NOTE: These pages can be pretty big and take a little while to download, be patient, you won't be disappointed.

Please don't e-mail me offering to buy or sell stuff, nothing here is for sale and no I'm not looking to buy. Also, if you could be kind enough to NOT ask me about values. I am NOT an appraiser, if you want to know the value of something you own, don't ask me. Thanks anyway, just look and enjoy...but if you just wanna talk about how great Hall is then e-mail me.

Although I'm not into Autumn Leaf at all, I made this Autumn Leaf pattern that makes a great desktop pattern. If you are using Windoze, right click on the graphic above and choose "Set as Background." If you are using a superior Mac OS computer, click the pattern above to download a picture clipping. To set your desktop pattern to it, simply drag the expanded clipping file into the Desktop Patterns, Desktop Pictures or Appearance control panel.

Best viewed on monitors set to thousands of colors (16bit) or greater.
