Liner Notes by Jim Roberts
Bob E Baker is someone who--if you speak with him long enough--will find
out alot about you.
And you'll be thankful for the experience. Ah, but Bob E Baker, who is he?
After a couple of years experience in the U.S.Navy in the mid 80's, Bob
endured some family crises.
He then earned a degree in Psychology
and practiced that profession for about four years, while
studying Theology.
Then he worked as a chaplain, minister and missionary
for a few years. All
the while he was writing songs, performing and getting some experience recording.
Most recently he has been a teacher for both private and public Nashville
schools. Now he has
put together a CD of a baker's dozen of excellent songs.
I've just listened to this recording and thoroughly enjoyed the ride--I
look forward to more
listenings and I heartily encourage you to open your ears. Your listening
will be its own reward.

1. "She Lives in a Dream"
She picks the flowers in her Sunday dress
Plucks off the petals one by one without regrets
She's thinking love, or love me not
She has a passion not to be bought.
She doesn't want diamond rings
She doesn't want bands of gold
She wants a love that's true
One that will feed her soul
She lives in a dream, Of love that she hopes to find
She lives in a dream, And she's a dream of mine
I hope one day I will find that girl, Sitting alone in our field of dreams
She lies on her back and stares at the sun
Thinks of a simple love but she has none
She picks up the flower and makes believe
That the last petal is the love of her dreams

2. "Without Love"
We could hold all of the world in the palms of our hands
If that's what we choose to do
And we could have all our desires and all our dreams come true
[but] Without love, where would we be now
Without love, we're lost along the way and empty night and day
Nothing we can do can make our dreams come true without love
And if you're feeling down
Just know this love you've found
Will always be around
We have traveled all of the world to try and understand
What this life is all about
And we have climbed mountains of hope
Seen valleys full of doubt
[but] Without love...

3. "Perfection" MP3
She always said that I was wasting my time
But now we see just who's gone out of their mind
She could never take the time to slow herself down
Had to be perfection and she let herself down
Now she wonders what is wrong with the world she's in
Why she has no love to call her own not even a friend
I guess she had to find out for herself, it's hard this way
No one to lean on when you're down's the price you pay
To be perfect in every way. Now you're perfectly alone today
She will prove you wrong even when you're in the right
Tell her there's a God and still she swears she is the light
She will find out once upon a time where she went wrong
Now's the perfect time for me to leave her with this song

4. Will You Still Believe
in Me"
I should tell you goodbye, But I can't risk the sadness in your eyes
Eyes that see the best in me, It's just a shadow of the man I used to be
The years have changed me but I can't forget
The things I hoped for and the things I regret
How did I let you deep inside? To see the heart I learned to hide
The heart I wore upon my sleeve, Losing faith in everything that I believed
Will you still believe in me
Will you still believe I'm everything you hoped I'd be
You have seen the best, now when you learn the rest
We'll see, if you still believe in me
I should say let's just be friends, And take the easy out again
But still I know I'll love you more, than all the countless times I tried
to love before
Will you forgive me, I must confess: Before I met you I settled for less
Will you still believe in me...

5. "Sunshine Girl"
The prettiest girl I ever did see, Well she had that thing if you know what
I mean
Something she just could not hide. She never ever seemed to care
What kind of clothes she chose to wear, Beauty begins deep inside
Smile on me sunshine girl, brighten up my day
Smile on me sunshine girl, chase my clouds away
When I'd have the worst of days, She's show that thing and take my care
away
If only for a little while. And though she left she gave back my ring
I kept a picture of that thing. Guess you guessed by now it's her smile
Smile on me sunshine girl, brighten up my day
Smile on me sunshine girl, chase my clouds away
Thirty-two muscles to wear a frown, Only thirteen turns it upside down
Seems to me it's easy to smile

6. The Wrong Side of the Couch"
Well I must've woke up on the wrong side of the couch this morning
Started off in bed, everything was fine
'Til I said "yes?" and she said "No!"
Lately brother that's the way things go
And I was on the couch again come morning time
Well I must've woke up on the wrong side of the couch this morning
Tried to make my way back to her bedroom door
But the suitcase in the hall
Well, I guess about says it all
And I don't think that I'm welcome here no more
Yeah I must've woke up on the wrong side of this morning
Seems that sofa is my only home
I know where every spring is at
'Cause they're poking me in my back
And there's only one side to get up on
And it's wrong
Well I must've woke up on the wrong side of the couch this morning
She said "Boy I want you outta' here today"
But I left standing tall
I said "Pretty little baby never get it all"
I took my couch and I was on my way

7. "Some People Never Change"
MP3
Late at night lying in my bed, your sweet voice echoes in my head saying
"Baby, what would I do without you?"
Well, probably the same old thing you've always done...having fun
'Cause some people never change, No, they always stay the same
But at least you always know what you will find
If they don't fit the bill, then go find someone who will
'Cause there was only one man who could change the water to wine (every
time)
Later on driving in my truck, well I see you by the roadside it's just my
luck saying
"Baby, where would I be without you?"
Well, you'd probably be in the arms of another man...understand, some people
never change

8. "God is on the Radio"
I was cruising through the stations, I was looking for a song
To help me find out what I'm feeling, tell me what is wrong
Yeah I'm looking for an answer, on the F.M. radio
Because I've got myself a problem, and I've nowhere else to go
Music's my religion and I'm faithful to the call
'Cause when I don't know what to say, A good song says it all
The radio can hold the answer to a simple prayer
'Cause God is on the Radio, God is everywhere
I know this may sound crazy, it's so simple but it's true
But God is in the writer's heart, there for me and you
When your looking for direction, know it can be found
Because God is on the Radio, God is all around

9. "What Do I Call You Now?"
I remember the first of November, Nineteen Eighty-Two
It was evening, eight o'clock, I kissed you in the parking lot
Behind the old library you said you marry me back then
We were so much younger, oh how I wish we were young again
It's been a long time since I've called you
What do I call you now, maybe I don't know you
Still you seem the same somehow
It's been a long time and how am I supposed to feel
Can you tell me what is a memory and what is real
It's been a long time
As time goes by we close our eyes to painful memories
It's then we see we had the best of times, didn't we
It's so good to hear your voice, you brightened up my day
Just to talk, not much to say, it's just a walk down memory lane
Do you still love movies and watching t.v. hours on end
And when you say that you miss me do you wish we could try again
It's been a long time...
Whenever I feel alone I pick up the phone, but what do I call you

10. "The Eagle and the Captain"
I'd love to try to love you, but passion's poisoned by the pain
Spoils of war I lay before you, and I know you do the same
But I will try as eagles fly to soar above the past foresaken
Making love in weightless skies, but I have no wings to hold you
I know why the eagle flies
Lonely captain on the waters, looking up to find his star
Commanding winds to find his lover, how he wonders where you are
Alone at sea you call to me, will you save me from the ocean
Let me drown within your love, but eagles never know my waters
I'm sailing home to find your love

11. "Welcome Home" MP3
Looking back he saw the city lights were growing small
Before him all that he could see were stars.
You remember how a small town doesn't seem so bad at all
When you've forgotten who you really are
And the first thing that you see as you drive into the square
Is an old friend with a smile upon her face
She says hello and soon you have forgotten all your cares
And everything that made you leave this place
Welcome home, you're welcome home again
Back where you belong with all your friends
Welcome home, I know it's been a long, long time
Kick on back and ease your weary mind
Welcome home, your welcome anytime
The rain is coming down just like it always did before
Soon the snow will come to take it's place
And your mother's glad to see you leave your boots there by the door
You see the missing years upon her face
So you talk awhile and catch up on the news about the town
Funny how the stories stay the same
In a world that moves so fast it only brings you down
You thank the Lord this old town has not changed

12. "No Promises, No Lies"
We have both been hurt before, and we want to run and hide
But I know love's worth fighting for, when I look into your eyes
No promises, no lies, it's how our love survives
I know it's hard to try again, and risk another broken heart
But I'm not feeling so tied down, there's been freedom from the start
No promises, no lies, it's how our love survives
And though this love affair may end, you will always be my friend
So when you want to run and hide, from the fears you feel inside
Just remember what we said...

13. "So Far From My Home"
Caught again between two worlds, can't decide which way to go
And yes I've been this way before, I still expect that I would know
Yes I'm "Earthbound" once again, coming down after the fall
And it's so hard to believe, said the angel on the wall
That I'm so far from my home, and I'm so alone
Still my eyes are shining bright, like the tiger in the night
But broken eyes they still can see, it's every bit a part of me
