Special Event: Austin Help. Place: People's Community Clinic, 2909 N. IH-35 When: May 7, 2008, Wednesday, 6:30pm - 8pm. Look for a sign at the clinic with the room number for the Austin Help meeting. The People's Community Clinic is a little hard to see at night.  There is a really large UT Building located at 29th & I-35 on the east frontage road of I-35 with the address 2901.  It is large and easy-to-see.  The clinic is small and right beside that building to the north.  I hope you are able to find it.    Sponsored by Mary. Special Event: 6th Annual Friends Over Texas National Event Place: Austin, Texas When: Thursday, May 15 - May 18th. The Friends over Texas event began in 2003 when members from the 4 major Texas Groups (Austin, San Antonio, Dallas and Houston) joined together to host our first gathering. We have toured Texas once and are on our second round this year being hosted in San Antonio, Texas.

Whether this is your first National Event or your 20th, you are sure to have a lot of fun, meet great people and leave with a smile. We had right around 175 people at our event last year in Austin Texas and hope to have at least that many or more for 2008's event. 2008 Friends over Texas event is being hosted at the Crockett Hotel Downtown San Antonio. Special Event: Monthly Birthday Happy Hour Place: 219 West, 219 W 4th Street. www.219west.com When: Thursday, May 22, 2008, 5:30pm. Come out and join Eric for the monthly Birthday Happy Hour being hosted at 219 West for January.  Eric has committed to hosting the Happy Hour monthly, thanks Eric!  The happy hour will be held in honor of everyone who has a birthday each month.  Be sure to come out and let us all celebrate your special day.  If you have never heard of 219 West, be sure to go to their website.  Looks to be a great place.  Beer is cheap, appetizers are 1/2 price and Happy Hour last till 9:00 pm.  This event is OPEN and the icon will be a small, blue gift bag with striped tissue paper sticking out of the top. Sponsored by Eric. This event is orgainized to welcome those of you who have not been out to any events and would like to meet some of the core group. This lunch will be a mix of new members and group members who have been around awhile. We will reserve the table under Laura and Barbara and will have a FEX X envelope as the ICON on the table. New Members

Afraid to attend a meeting or event because you don't know anyone? We have volunteers available to talk to you on the phone or meet with you for lunch/drinks. Each one of our volunteers know what it felt like to walk in to a meeting/social event without knowing anyone and we are here to help. We want to make this as comfortable as it can be. If you would like a volunteer to talk to, just send an e-mail at austin.friends@austinhelp.org and I will arrange a volunteer (male or female) to contact you.
