Always

Standard Schnauzers

Combining the Best of the United States and Australia

Always Schnauzers had its beginning in 1986 when I purchased my first Standard Schnauzer,  Ch. Mandylian Rock & Roll, CDX.   With Rocky I learned the in's and out's of showing in both the breed and obedience rings. I was so enamored of the breed that when 2 years later an acquaintance offered to give me a Standard Schnauzer pup that she could no longer keep, I jumped at the chance, and added a 4 month old pup to my household. Lola, Ch. Wolfe Tone Rhythm and Blues,  was to become my foundation bitch, a leading producer and one of my best friends.

A year later, Freebie, Ch. Mandylian Pro Bono V. Always joined the gang, and her kids over the next few years kept me busy. Freebie retired from motherhood in 1997 after producing several outstanding litters and is an SSCA Leading Producer.

In 1996 I imported a male puppy from Australia, Ch. Remporter A Starfyr Fox.  Tristan became the first Australian bred SS to attain an American championship. Tristan’s gorgeous head, perfect bite, excellent reach and drive and wonderful outgoing temperament helped me improve even more on the qualities already established in my dogs.

His first litter out of Freebie produced 3 champions, with one daughter, Ch. Always Fire'n Brimstone, going Best in Sweepstakes at the 1998 SSCA National Specialty and the 1998 Knickerbocker SSC Regional Specialty. Tristan has so far sired 4 litters and is already a Leading Producer with 9 champions to his credit.   His grandkids are in the ring now with three,  Ch. Always Game of Chance, Ch. Always Justa Good Time , and Ch. Always Going My Way finishing their titles!

I was so impressed with my Aussie dog that I imported a bitch, Ch. Remporter Star at Always.  Stella (a half sister to Tristan) hit the ring running and finished her championship at 9 months old with 4 majors from the puppy class with uncropped ears. In March of  2001, Stella presented me with a wonderful litter of eight out of one of my boys, Ch. Always Devil's Advocate.   Three in that litter, Ch. Always Hearts Are Gonna Roll, Ch. Always Hall of Fame, and Ch. Always Harley Rider have finished their championships, with one more not far behind.

I breed for health and temperament first - beyond that the qualities I prize the most in my line are excellent rotating coats, outstanding movement and good fronts. My dogs are at home in the conformation ring, in obedience, or as beloved companions. Most of my puppy homes are "repeat customers", and I have placed pups in homes from New York to California and many points in between. I aspire to breed quality dogs with loving, outgoing temperaments who are a source of pride to their owners and myself.
