The starting line of my first 10K (6.2 miles)

The finish line (notice I'm not smiling anymore!)

The most recent race. It was a 10 miler.

That's my running partner Mike. We've had to push each other several times to keep up our training.

One more race down. I ran a 30k (18.6 miles) race on Sunday 1-14-01. That was one tough race. By the 14th mile my legs felt like rubber and I kept thinking to myself that I would have 12 more miles to go if this were the marathon. Ugh! I decided that if I had to walk some during the marathon that would be okay. I'm almost there. The Motorola Marathon is Feb. 18th. (For those of you who don't know the marathon is 26.2 miles long.) My next race is the half marathon on the 4th of Feb., two weeks before the big day! I'm very excited and nervous. My mom will be coming to visit and help cheer me on.

Here's the big day. 5 hours and 23 minutes! I was pleased with my time. I only sustained 4 blisters and none of them were much of a problem. I decided to run with a pace group and I think that was the only reason I mad it. We did a cycle of running for 5 minutes and walking for 1. That gave my body a chance to recover. I never did hit the wall as some people said I might around the 20 mile point. Infact I had a burst of energy the last mile and finished strong. I'm glad I did it, but I'm also glad that it's over.

Here's a map of the course. Looking at it I still can't believe I ran that far.
