Advised on problems maintaining aircraft communication and
navigation systems. Used and interpreted layout drawings,
schematics, logic, and pictorial diagrams to solve maintenance
problems. Advised on aligning and calibrating to procedures to
ensure optimum operating efficiency. Analyzed data received from
testing and troubleshooting procedures to determine necessary
repair. Identified maintenance problem areas, and recommended
corrective action. Developed methods to improve maintenance
efficiency.
Installed, removed, maintained, inspected, repaired, operated,
overhauled, adjusted, and modified analog and digital aircraft
avionics communication and navigation systems. Inspected and
tested communication and navigation systems to locate defective
components or interconnections. Diagnosed malfunctions using
technical orders, schematics, wiring diagrams, and test
equipment. Removed and replaced faulty system wiring, electrical
connectors, antennas, transmission lines, and multiconductor
cables. Adjusted, calibrated, and aligned system components.
Performed production maintenance functions. Coordinated
maintenance plans to meet operational commitments. Supervised and
assisted in the launching and recovering of aircraft. Performed
basic ground handling functions. Maintained and reviewed
maintenance data collection and inspection records.
Installed a bar code system in the tool crib to speed check in,
check out times to reduce wasted man hours.
Designed and fabricated a test set to isolate malfunctions in
interphone ground cords.
Volunteered to be on a six man team to modify the units fifty
three KC-135R aircraft to better meet mission requirements,
completing the modification one year ahead of schedule.
Installed global positioning systems in the units aircraft
greatly enhancing the aircrafts navigational capabilities.
Built up the units test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment
section consisting of two hundred and ten special tools and
pieces of test equipment. Developed a database to track items due
calibration resulting in reduced equipment downtime.
Assisted in building the units recycling program, called one of
the best in the country at that time.
Assisted in building the units crime prevention program.
Managed the proper operation of thirty one desktop and seventeen
laptop computers, sixteen printers, ten multiple CD-ROM drives,
and numerous software packages.
